The best of the journeys are the ones that are least planned.
Our journey started at 6.30 am from Pune Junction Railway Station. This was my first journey by the local train and we got late , at the last minute we boarded the Handicapped-reserved compartment. That was a bit awkward moment for us, but we decided to go with the flow.πππ
Pune-Lonavla Railway Scenes
We were a group of eleven , everyone from Pune. I was the one who made plan for Lohagad trek.
In the morning, sky was clear and mood upbeat as we moved towards Malvali Station. After the journey of 1.30 hrs , we reached Malvali station. We started walking on road towards Lohagad Fort, which is approx. 5 km from station. And mobiles came out, photo-session began after few steps of walking.
Near Malvali Station
It feels wonderful to walk slowly during a trek and more so if you walk with your friends. And we started walking forward. When I was here in last vacacy , there was so much to see, so much to appreciate, so much to soak in, but this time there were only sunrays we soaked in πππ.We were eating sun-rays like Kohi Mil Gaya ka Jaduπ½π½π½.
Roads of malvali.
All of us were feeling hot now, but Kshitij had another plan, he decided to go alone and reached the Lohagad Paytha 1 hr before us.

After couple of kilometres Snehal started feeling the heat of trek πππ and we started taking halts after after every few metres ππ. Snehal was very confident the day before, but now her confidence flew with the hillside windsππ. We all were taking advantage of these halts to revive our energy. But Priyanka wanted to complete that distance quicklyππΆπ.

In between all this Tushar started feeling little issues with his health but after some rest he started walking forward.
“Kasabasa Gadachya Paythyala Pohachalo Baba πͺπͺ ”
As we reached the Lohagad Paytha , we revived ourselves with lemon juice , which was completely “sugar free and Fresshh ” πππ bought from the local Dhaba.
We gathered strength and started climbing fort. Harshal became the photographer as he had the best camera phoneππ
This pic is must on every Fort
After climbing almost 500 steps we finally reached the top of fort. We were expecting floating clouds rolling down the fort , but ended with the winding sunny weather .
Top of the Fort
Each time we climb any fort we get mesmerised by what we see.
Lohagad (iron fort) is one of the many hill forts of Maharashtra state in India. Situated close to the hill station Lonavala and 52 km (32 mi) northwest of Pune, Lohagad rises to an elevation of 1,033 m (3,389 ft) above sea level. The fort is connected to the neighboring Visapur fort by a small range. The fort was under the Maratha empire for the majority of time, with a short period of 5 years under the Mughal empire.
After a long photo-session we walk down the fort and it’s almost 1.30 pm , we decided to drink Usacha Ras (sugar cane juice) and went back to malvali station with local transportation SUV .

And our journey ended in the highly crowded local train.
That had been the best dayπββ, no stress , no study, no college.
Absolute company of nature and best friends.
